About Marquette MI

Marquette is rich in history as well as beauty. Founded by Amos Harlow and Peter White the city was first named Worchester, after the great Mr. Harlow's home town in Massachusetts. It was later changed to Marquette after Jacques Marquette a French explorer.

Marquette has always been a hub along Lake Superior as a viable and profitable shipping port. The primary shipping of iron ore has long been the tradition at the ports. And the shores of Lake Superior in Marquette Michigan is also the home to the Marquette underwater Preserve.

Ah, the weather!

Like all good northern cities you better bring your snow boots in the winter. Marquette MI averages about 170 inches of snow a year. There are not only great residuntial real estate to be found in Marquette but also great recreational real estate. A fresh snow fall makes for great tracking in hunting season.  

But, if you like a little nicer weather, don't over look Marquette.  We have an amazing spring and summer.  Warm weather with beautiful wildlife and wonderful lush greenery.
